Project: Development of functional cortical networks in infant brain
Where? Baby Brain Activity Center (BABA) is a multidisciplinary research environment dedicated to study development of early brain activity in both healthy and neurologically compromised children. BABA is situated in the New Children’s Hospital, Helsinki University Hospital (Helsinki, Finland). Our team includes clinicians from different fields, neuroscientists, various engineers including AI experts, neuropsychologists, and expert from other fields. One of the key aims in BABA is develop methods and understanding of the development of functional brain networks, and their relation to early medical adversities and neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Project description: the candidate will analyse functional brain networks using multi-channel EEG recordings from different Finnish and international clinical cohorts. Network studies will be based on different connectivity modes, looking into temporal network dynamics, and correlating findings with clinical outcomes. Project may also involve development of analytical tools and brain modelling components. The candidate will work closely with Dr Anton Tokariev, Prof. Sampsa Vanhatalo, and other members of the network team.
Candidate. We are looking for a motivated, responsible, and talented postdoc, who is independent but also with good team-player skills. The candidate is expected to have excellent computational/analytical skills, critical thinking, proficiency in relevant programming languages (Matlab, Python, etc.), as well as good spoken and written English. Prior experience with EEG analysis, knowledge of relevant processing packages (Brainstorm, Fieldtrip, etc.) as well as understanding of network neuroscience are a plus.
